Cedar Rapids Food & Bio Manufacturing Report Update (2023)

In January 2024, working through the ISU-Cedar Partnership, project staff completed update of the Cedar Rapids Food and Bioprocessors Manufacturing Report.  Originally published in 2018, the study measures baseline economic output for the food and bio cluster in Cedar Rapids.  Specifically, this document inventories the scale of current, value-added manufacturing activities, quantifies waste streams as well as identifies potential opportunities for future growth drawing the City’s existing industrial base.

Technical work for the update was performed through ISU’s Center for Agricultural and Rural Development (CARD) with support from Iowa State University Extension and Outreach.  Dr. Chad E. Hart led the study effort with assistance provided by Oranuch Wongpiyabovorn (CARD) and City of Cedar Rapids staff.
